Lurk No More

There’s been some significant debate raging in BroBomb world. Ever since Matt sent around the link to Pursuit of Happiness, we’ve been going back and forth with ideas on how to bring this vibe to a ski edit. Could it be done on any interesting ski trail at night? Would it require a fantasyland combination of downhill urban landscape and snow covered streets? Are there creative ways to bridge that gap?

I’ve got a fridge packed with beer and grillable meats, so it’s your turn to write some BroBomb content. Drop your ideas, responses, hate, and knock-knock jokes in the comments. Consider this collective therapy to get the young skiing community used to posting on something other than NS.

Literate Skiers: Blake Nyman

Blake Nyman is a fixture in the Nimbus videos and webisodes. He recently took some time away from filming all forms of slashes, nose butters, and pow turns with the homies to catch up on his roadbiking and sightseeing in the Big Apple. Twitter tells us he’s headed back to snowy Oregon with Banks Gilberti, but he still found time to recommend some books to expand your tiny minds.

Any skateboarder worth his Mark Gonzalez knows that their favorite skater’s favorite video is Plan B’s Questionable. Featuring skateboard lifers like Matt Hensley, Rodney Mullen, Pat Duffy, and Mike Carroll. Every skater cool enough not to wear a helmet at the skatepark has seen it.

I was stunned when I found out that my twenty-something co-worker at SASS had seen the light and decided to “become a freeskier” without having seen 13. That’s like me seeing the light and deciding to become a freeskier without having seen State of Mind. I remember watching 13 on the last day of the season when I was in middle school; it was my first time seeing a twin-tip ski, and by the time I’d seen CR (RIP) nearly stick a cork 1260, I was out in the yard trying to slide a shovel handle on my mogul skis.

It figures to be a big year for shred unity. You can add this to the list of combo films that might just work that already includes “Come Find Us” and “My Alaska.” Somewhere a snowboard blogger snickers and thinks of new ways to keep the hate alive.

sign(lots of words, but there’s a video at the bottom)

Reno is a special kind of ski town. In fact, I bet many of the inhabitants of its casino and pawn shop lined streets would be surprised to hear it referred to as such. Continue reading this entry »

Every filmer deserves a little self indulgence, and Nick has certainly earned his. In addition to running the edit-dropping machine that is Right as Rain Films, he spent time filming for Anthony Boronowski in the Whistler area. Continue to the “Related Posts” for a look at all of Nick’s work that we’ve featured this year.
