You Voted: Surfing

By Jon Hartley6 Comments

When we did our summer content poll somebody suggested that we get some surfing in the mix. To be honest, I’ve always found (do they call it freestyle?) surfing really fun, but entirely unwatchable. However, even the oldest sports have to change to stay fresh, and this edit is a glimpse into how cool surfing has gotten recently. We should probably learn something from that and make sure this skiing thing keeps being reinvented and doesn’t get all lame and boring.

I love your site guys, I check up on it every couple days or so to satisfy my ski cravings, and this edit was epic. however, I noticed a few posts ago you wrote an article on how outerwear companies need to get unique, come up with their own designs instead of basing them off of already existing designs, and do their own thing- pioneer a new style. Then, the post just before this one you advocated that everybody go out this summer and blend into the crowd by fulfilling the same stereotype as everyone else- rasta head to toe. i do love me some rasta, but it seems like your throwing two contradicting messages out there only a few days apart. so what do you support? uniqueness and creativity, or following the crowd?

just something to think about, I guess. By no means am I hating on the site (like I said, I love this blog!)… just sharing something I noticed

MCB, re-read both of those articles. Unless you’re trying to get all meta-sarcastic, I think you may have missed a very substantial point.

may not have read it closely enough – was rushed. will look again, of course. sorry to rush into conclusions so fast :/

As a bro living in SoCal, I now (am forced) love surfing.
