Tryout

By Jon Hartley35 Comments

I’ve got a question for you.

You may have noticed that the BroBomb taste in edits has some variety, but we tend to like certain “styles” of skiing more than others. I have noticed that you, the readers, tend to be people who appreciate that style. So here’s a crew that’s been at it for awhile, and they’re getting their BroBomb tryout. They have a spring edit in the works…but the question to you is whether the above edit earns them another view in your undoubtedly very crowded ski media viewing schedule.

  1. Ian Houghton says:

Hip hop, grandpa jumpers (‘contrived gypsy’), no poles, lack of fun vibe. Not really digging it. Who came up with that name anyway? Were they aware they were going to come across as a 2bi4-esque rip-off?

  2. Tyler N says:

Dickie does some pretty scene tricks but other than that the crew seems a lil too hard for me. I feel that every skier crew is going to start repping semi tight pants and do tappy tricks and gypsy-esque stunts. I do not think that should count them in as Brobomb material. They are just too serious. skier with tight pants and no poles is not necessarily brobomb material, fun and unique skiing is. They could of at least used a happy song.

  3. Cody Larson says:

I thought it was pretty sick. Sorry if i don’t have a ultra sophisticated taste in skiing edits, but people get crazy picky up on this brobomb. I mean its a website called brobomb how serious can you be. If you don’t like “serious” edits why be so damn serious about skiing edits.

  4. DUNCAN MAFUKIN ALDEN says:

this was tight! ill song and deeeeccee tricksz

  5. Dhane Knakkergaard says:

no way! i couldn’t even finish watching the edit! thirdward, tighter pants, no poles and ghetto music all leading towards a dry sense of funny. these kids are completely trendy by trying to convince they are not. those kids over at newschoolers will gobble this shit up with a fork, but let them do it! i come to brobomb expecting those rare edits that break the mold

  6. Mitch says:

Nothing against the no-poles, but the style of the skiing coupled with the song choice just don’t do it for me.

  7. dan says:

The skiing was pretty good but the song really killed the vibe in my opinion.

  8. b-ladd says:

Cody Larson hit it on the head. Thirdward kills shit! Hypehypehype!

    swag.

  9. Jonny Bromley says:

there style of riding was cool. but the music just didnt fit the style. i rock skinny pants my self and i think more skiers aughta do it, and start to forget that over the top NS sh!t which is just to out of control. bit i liked to watch there mooves. i just muted the sound and played some pixies with it.

  10. Jonny Bromley says:

that is if you wanna even say they were wearing skinny pants

  11. tha Panda says:

thought it was pretty tight, lots of different tricks for once. But what do i know, im just a Panda

  12. Emmett Davis says:

thought I should clear some things up. First, The Third Ward is a neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were I and a few of the kids I ski with come from. Second, we certainly had fun filming this edit, and I had fun making it, so that is good enough for me. Lastly, for those who aren’t into hip hop, I would encourage you to watch some of our other edits from this season, as I use rap in edits pretty rarely. I appreciate the comments, whether good or bad, and have a great day.

  13. Jake Kulas says:

Sick stuff guys! Keep up the work, it shouldnt matter about what you wear, skiing was sick and looked fun. Look forward to seeing more stuff in the future!

  14. lapper says:

ehh, it was ok but not very fun. save it for NS

  15. jacob says:

i got bored..and get some poles..some people make it look good..some dont.

  16. Jonny Bromley says:

emmet i have seen your other stuff and i like it…..but we were asked what we thought

  17. Gorgeous says:

Red helmet kinda looked like the tip of a deer dick other than that I didn’t really pay attention. You can kill em and eat em, but don’t dare try to fuck em.

  18. Kale Cimperman says:

hey “gorgeous”, dickie styza (red helmet) fucked your bitch.

  19. Ian Houghton says:

Hey Emmett, good attitude. Thanks for explaining the whole ‘Third Ward’ thing – it still sounds unoriginal, but it gives it a bit more credibility. I’d definitely consider another name though; it really sounds like you’re trying to bite Ninthward right now. I’ll check out the other edits, thanks for the heads up.

  20. Jake Krolick says:

First – loving the edits BroBomb digs! I don’t want to discourage these guys but at the current time this has no place on your site. Can I get a soapbox “please – enough with the Hip-Hop, Rap and general thug vibe in the edits – it’s been done and done and done – time to do something original.”

Constructive crit – Here’s a recipe for the next edit on brobomb

    * Please film general antics on an off mtn to add into the hot ski action
    * Please choose a soundtrack that set you appart from the rest
    * Please film in multiple locations – the park is fast becoming a place that lacks creative skiing. Moderation is key.

  21. Jake Krolick says:

I went and watched your Thirdward Break Edit – much more interesting.

  22. Dunfee says:

where’d all these damn people come from?

  23. bp says:

thirdward brings the people. just what you didn’t expect… thats just how it is

  24. smokeyandthebandit says:

Yeah pissed off people who are standing up against something they obviously feel strongly about. Your edit was a joke. Yeah Dickey was good the rest was just a bunch of thug skiers who have tighter pants. Have fun and just carve some turkeys out there. You guys are always so serious and your vids show that.

  25. Emmett Davis says:

^thanks for that one. Gave me a good laugh. Not sure what carving turkeys means though. It would seem that you know me personally, (you guys are always so serious). That is about as far from the truth as you can get. Just because we like to ski hard and we listen to hip hop doesn’t mean we aren’t having fun. I think the one taking skiing too seriously here is you, man, taking the time out of your day to leave an anonymous comment calling my edit a joke. If you do know me, chances are you are from Utah. Shouldn’t you be skiing right now instead of hating on the internet?

  26. Thom says:

Whoa whoa whoa, this here BroBomb site is a peaceful community where each member is free to put their faith in whatever fashionable legwear they see fit. Leave the pants out of it.

However, i didn’t dig the edit.

  27. EMK says:

I thought the song was rubbish, but if thats the leftovers i’d like to see the main meal. They have all got sweet style(although maybe questionable fashion sense, that jumper?)

  28. smokeyandthebandit says:

My bad brah it came out more hateful then i meant. but I just mean this site was always more focused on a less serious style of skiing. The previous people on here seemed to just go out and not necessarily have the most banger of tricks but it just looks fun, which I, as an avid reader of this site specifically looks foreword too . I know you are not serious people and you love to ski but you guys are VERY serious about getting shots, which is more similar to the edits on all the other ski media websites. I am not going to lie I probably watched every one of your edits to date, I just don’t want Brobomb’s choice in media to start slipping to a more mainstream style of skiing so I probably over dramtically stated my opinion. Carving Turkeys- I was reffering to carving turns on the slopes.

  29. Emmett Davis says:

Alright, that’s reasonable. no hard feelings. as for some of these comments, one thing really confuses me: Where in this edit is anyone wearing a jumper? D. Styza is CLEARLY wearing an epic Christmas sweater (thrift store swag) which is both festive and stylish.

  30. Jake Krolick says:

Since I gave crit – Here’s a link to an edit after a storm in Philly this year. Met up with this group at the art museum and put the sticks away to film instead of ski. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smdwhcvW98k

  31. Chava says:

I’m sure you’re having fun, but with a song and an edit like that, how am I supposed to know that?

  32. bp says:

why would you even ski if it isnt fun… i think everyone out there is having fun… we aren’t waking up every mother at 5 am and running drills all morning… we are all lapping in the park… park should be synomous with fun.

  33. Rich says:

hey look BroBomb became NS where we have an opinion about everything

  34. andres says:

personally, i’m more a fan of this baby

    http://newschoolers.com/ns/content/viewvideo/id/422425/

  35. [...] that two of them found their way into this post. Number one is from that crew that everyone ganged up on two weeks ago, Thirdward. The other is from Grouphome, and it’s legit (real skiing, [...]
