Best 360 of 2011 Contest

Vinnie Dorian knows what we’re talking about.

Remember the 360? Back in the days when the only two tip tips skis were the infamous yellow 1080s from Salomon and those race skis from Dynastar with the tails turned up and the cow-print base graphic, a good 360 was absolutely critical for the pro trick bag. From JP’s 3 mute grabs to JF’s 360 japan to the swan of the turn-of-the-millennium trick bag, the 3 tail, these tricks made careers and were the reference point for the best skiers’ signature styles.

Now that triple cork 1440’s are easier than passing 10th grad Calc for most aspiring pros, you don’t see many flat, no-cork 360’s except by everyone over 25. But the three has never lost its appeal – it still may be the best-feeling trick to throw in all of skiing, and brings back that “oh, yeah” feeling to any edit or park run.

Biggest prize for a 360 since 2001.

But since 360’s are so few and far between these days, it’s getting harder for the beaters at BroBomb to find video of the one trick they can relate to and possibly do. That’s why we’re looking to you disenchanted readers to help us find the Best 360 of 2011. SASS Global Travel will be giving away a Dakine x SASS collabo backpack and some BroBomb scraps to whoever scouts the best 360 of the year. Here’s how it’s gonna work:

Submit a link to the video clip of the best 360 you saw this year to ryan@brobomb.com, and let us(me) know where in the video the trick is. It can be of your homie or a pro in an Evan Heath edit – doesn’t matter, whoever scouts it for us first gets dibs, and IT CAN’T BE YOU. I’ll watch all the videos, take my picks, post the top 3 on the site, and have you, our engaged audience of over-opinionated former ski talents, vote! Whoever’s scouting ability is judged to be the best wins the prize pack from SASS.

Style Guide

360s we like: Ones with style.

360s we don’t like: Ones with screamin-seamens, pencil spins, or shitty landings. NO OCTOGRABS ALLOWED.

Corks, flatspins, and other inverted nonsense doesn’t count; we’re bringing it all the way back to the basics.

Submission deadline: May 22nd at midnight!

Happy Hunting! And while you’re at it, get down with some SASS Facebook for your summer.
