“Great Moments In Press Release History” will be a new series in 2013 highlighting the funniest press releases or those about the most rediculous products that Dunfee, an “industy influencer,” gets in his inbox that would otherwise get taken seriously or receive no publicity at all. Our first one comes from electronics maker JVC.
Of course, NOTHING in the entire world of disposable action sports garbage gets us more excited than POV cameras, or as this conglomerate has branded them, “Action Cams,” because action sports participants are too stupid and bored to use anything but the shortened versions of words in conversation. JVC, developer of the VHS tape and millions of pounds of mid-grade electronics since, has partnered with a radical big-mountain skier we’ve never heard of who films with Warren Miller to promote the game-changing ADIXXION Action Cam. Of course, GoPro has the POV camera market’s balls in a vice, but that’s not going to stop JVC from making a late appearance to cash in on the trend with an alliteration-heavy addition to the market of secondary players now populated by Drift, Replay, Muvi, and Vio. Rejoice!
JVCKENWOOD Partners with Big Mountain Skier Jamey Parks
To Promote Adixxion Action Cam
WAYNE, NJ, January 4, 2013 – Armchair thrill seekers can now join big mountain skier Jamey Parks as he plunges down a mountainside in deep powder thanks to the JVC ADIXXION camera he’ll have along. Parks recently joined JVC’s roster of extreme sports athletes using Adixxion to capture their adventures.
Parks, whose passion is carving through deep powder in the rugged backcountry of Utah, is using JVC’s GC-XA1 ADIXXION to capture all the action. A competitive big mountain skier, Parks also spends much of his time working with photographers and filmmakers, helping them capture stunning images and footage of backcountry big mountain skiing.
Parks has worked on several projects for Warren Miller Entertainment, a well-known producer of ski films. Photos of Parks have been featured dozens of times in virtually every ski publication and website, and he devotes a considerable amount of his time to testing a variety of ski equipment.
As a JVC partner, Parks will use JVC’s ADIXXION to capture his skiing and share the results with his fans and friends via social media, while JVC will share his exploits via its own social media outlets.
The JVC GC-XA1 ADIXXION ups the ante in the action camera category by offering a range of features and capabilities that outpace competing models. Truly pocket-sized and weighing barely a quarter pound, ADIXXION is waterproof to a depth of five meters (16.4 feet), shockproof to withstand a fall from two meters (6.5 feet), dustproof and freeze-proof, all without the need for a separate housing. In addition, ADIXXION includes built-in Wi-Fi, 1.5-inch LCD monitor, image stabilizer and offers full HD 1920×1080/30p and 1280×720/60p recording.
