Those who call themselves the Hot Possie took a trip to Whistler this summer. When you are hip OG’s like them you don’t just take road trips, you name them silly names like “Dragonfest.” This is the video from last year, and there will be a new one this year. Here (scroll down for story) is a peek into this year’s trip, and it almost makes sense.

Dragonfest ’94, the second annual installment of Hot Possie’s Pacific Northwest summer shred tour, is fully underway. This year is the same course as last year: Mt. Hood to Whistler, with Seattle as the central base. So far we’ve been bagging shots thanks to much better weather than last year and constantly expanding park offerings. Looking at how much raw footy we have now (and the fact that we still have to survive Canada Day in Whistler), the edit will hit you just when you’re starting to think about skiing again. I hate August. For the time being, here are some things we’ve learned along the way:
• Difference Between Coaches and Counselors: One rainy day at Windell’s forced coaches Jeff Kiesel, Collin Collins and Ty Barnes to supervise 50+ campers on a field trip. The camp sent them to a shopping mall for a movie, but guess what happens when you put that many teenagers in a mall? The highlight was when one camper got thrown out for panhandling and looking like a hobo in front of a jewelry store wearing… any guesses? Tall tee. Continue reading this entry »

I slept three-ish hours last Tuesday, got up after six a.m., hit the road with my friend at seven and since then, I’ve been under the influence. The sheer anticipation of a deep powder day is enough to put me in a daze. 22 inches fell at Stevens Pass in 24 hours. That was the chemical keeping me in a delirium for a solid five hours. Even during the drive, I started to feel this euphoric tingling. Before you’re even locked in to the ride, it’s affect (and I mean affect, as in a psychological change) is circulating through your system. You get antsy and the anticipation almost makes you snap, but then you’re taking that first run and it’s happening. Continue reading this entry »
